Rooibos is a herbal tea made from a plant grown in South Africa. The most common and widespread type is red fermented rooibos. However, there is an unfermented green type. Green rooibos is not only rare, it is quite new. It appears to have a higher level of antioxidants, has a milder and fresher taste and is very easy to prepare. Green rooibos is dried immediately after harvest to preserve color, flavor and antioxidants. Antioxidant, anti-mutagenic, anti-stearic and anti-inflammatory, are some of the benefits you can get from this tea. Rooibos may have the ability to fight free radicals and protect cells from DNA damage. Animal studies show that rooibos is indeed a tea with enormous potential.
