Arnica Tincture (Arnica montana) comes from processing the flowers of the plant of the same name which thrives in mountainous and alpine meadows of Europe. It is a relatively rare plant, which in many regions of Europe has been declared a protected species.

In modern herbal medicine, Arnica is used for the care of bruises, irritations, "swellings" and in general for the care of the skin that has been damaged by blows and impacts. It is considered particularly beneficial in cases of sprains, sprains and dislocations. It is also considered to contribute to the faster recovery of muscle "pulls" and to the relief of rheumatism, lumbago, arthritis and gout.

Arnica is considered to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties due to the essential oils it contains. It is also believed that Arnica's ability to speed up the "renewal" of cells in the tissues of the skin is due to these essential oils. Arnica can be used to speed up the healing of cold sores as well as prevent scarring after burns.

Arnica Tincture is very strong and should be used with extreme caution. It should never be placed undiluted on the skin. To prepare an Arnica compress, use 9 parts water to 1 part Arnica (eg 9.0ml water to 1.0ml Arnica) and dip a cloth or bandage into the solution. Place it on the skin until it dries or if you want to renew it (but not for more than 3 hours a day). You can add Arnica tincture to one base cream up to 15.0% and apply to the affected area. You can even add a few drops of the tincture to water and then place it on the sore limb.

Arnica tincture should under no circumstances be consumed internally (it is for external use only), as it contains the substance helenalin which is toxic. It should not come into contact with "open" wounds.

Herbal tinctures are very active and for this reason should be consumed according to their instructions. Arnica Tincture is for external (epidermal) use only and should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
