Guarana is a climbing plant native to the Amazon basin and especially Brazil. The small brown seeds of the plant are commonly used for their varied health benefits.
Guarana seeds, either whole or in powdered form have very stimulating properties much like coffee beans. They can help improve energy levels, focus, athletic performance and mental clarity. They have tonic properties on the body and when combined with a balanced diet and exercise they can rev up the metabolism and increase fat loss. Traditionally, guarana seeds have been used to alleviate headaches, migraines, nerve pain and bring down fever.
To prepare a guarana brew, we add ½ to 1 teaspoon of guarana powder in boiling water and we simmer for 5 minutes. Then, we strain the brew.
Because of the strong stimulating nature of guarana seeds they shouldn’t be over consumed and consumption should be avoided in the evening.
